Rawr!

The Last Lions Official Website

I stumbled upon this while listening to a TED lecture by Derek and Beverly Joubert. This couple has spent years filming their subject, with a mission to save these last lions. They are passionate photographers and animal lovers. And their efforts over all these years are culminated in this documentary that I really shouldn't miss. Sadly, I don't think the cinemas in my country are showing this wonderful film.

I have always liked wildlife documentaries. When I was young I would lie on the couch and watch the Nat Geo Channel or the Discovery Channel (Animal Planet didn't appeal to me then) for an entire Saturday morning. But nowadays I don't really watch documentaries anymore, because of my busier life or that documentaries these days don't have the same appeal anymore.

Hopefully this movie would reignite my interest in this sort of picturesque savannah documentary. I think it will.

Next on, the first Deviantart feature on this blog! For the benefit of the doubt, Deviantart is a online art forum where everyone has their own gallery. Users are called "Deviants", and I've been a Deviant for 2 years. You can visit my gallery here: http://azure11.deviantart.com/. I don't have many good works to boast about, but I guess I'm still working on it.

And here's one fantastic submission from one of the Deviants that I "watch" (follow).

This is "Fisheye Placebo: Concept Art" from 'yuumei. She's a really good comic artist, so far the best I've seen on Deviantart. You should really check out her manga series "Knite". Her combination of her drawings with Flash brings manga to a different level. Beautiful.

Ciao!
