The War of the Lions

Alright! Sorry for the hiatus again. Sad to say, I'll be away yet again as I'll be sent to Thailand for three weeks for training. So before this blog falls silent for too long, let me show and tell again.

Here's Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions. Just to introduce this whole awesome series of video games, I'll explain how the name came to be. Hironobu Sakaguchi, a video game producer from Square, decided to make a RPG that will probably be his last if it doesn't sell well. Maybe he didn't have much confidence in himself, or that the company was edging towards its bankruptcy. The "Final" word was settled, and well, it's a fantasy game so naturally it became "Final Fantasy". Catchy. The first of the series has been well-received and so it wasn't the "final" one after all. So from 1987 till today, many more games were developed; some of them legendary in the video-gaming world (for e.g. FFVII).

Personally, I've played FFVII, FFVIII, FFX, FFX-2, FFXII, FFTA, FFT:WOTL, FF Dissidia. A confession: I've only personally finished FFX and FFTA. THE HORROR! The others I left them halfway through (FFVII, FFX-2), "co-played" with my brother/sister (FFVIII, Dissidia), or still working on it (FFXII, FFT:WOTL). I must finish FFVII someday.

Anyways, going back to the game art above, I really like the character/world art of FFT:WOTL. The choice of palate and the use of cel-shaded animation technique make this a very unique remake of FFT. The story's really really complicated, and I needed to read the plot on wiki to get the whole picture. Nevertheless, it's an intriguing story set in Ivalice - a war between two aristocrats for the throne, "with either side using whatever means possible to secure their place in the throne. This included bearing an illegitimate child, killing other possible heirs, betrayal, assassination and false identities" -wiki.

If you're interested and want more to read on, wiki's your best friend.

See you again in three weeks' time!
