A long weekend! So I decided to take a walk around the Marina area, with my photography partner, Howard. Actually, he asked me out to take some shots of the city's night lights. In the end I was really bored of the landscape and ended up looking for interesting people to snap. Landscape photography really isn't my thing, at least in Singapore. Nonetheless, I made a few attempts to capture the cityline; turned out to be not so bad, or so I think.
The Indian lady had an unmissable expression.
The horizon's off. One of the reasons why I don't really like taking landscape shots is the need to scrutinize the leveling, the focus etc etc. I prefer the more spontaneous snapping along the streets.
The new Art Science Museum at MBS. Didn't really visit the museum, but will do so someday. This shot's has dramatic light tones but it could do without the light at the background.
Symmetry. Photographers usually look out for this sort of thing I suppose.
We were treated to a laser show! I didn't really get nice shots, but this was one of the nicest - and hence I showcased it here. We wanted to wait an hour for the next show so that we can position ourselves at a good angle, but I was bored and so we moved on to Clarke Quay.
And this is my friend Howard. This is the red lighted triangle in front of 1 Caramel in the CBD. I adjusted the curves to eliminate all the details to make a nice profile pic for him.
Finally, Clarke Quay! This pub caught my eye because it looked very rustic and has its own unique flavour. I could have taken a better shot though. Perhaps a frontal shot.
Luck was on my side to catch this lady with a dazed-out look.
A fortune teller. The woman at the top left corner's a distraction.
This is probably my favourite shot for the trip. The action and the colour are pretty intense. Well the adults were having fun in the clubs, this child had his share of fun too!
Trishaw. I think this shot has potential, but just not there yet. For one, the sharpness. For another, I could have taken the man in a better pose. He was waiting and looking for a customer along the street.
I really do enjoy taking pictures of people, instead of buildings, rivers and bridges. You can never get the same shot twice no matter how many times you walk on the same street. Along the way, Howard was doing a better job at being shameless, taking photos of people, children, and street performers upfront. Somehow, I think I need to buck up. Orchard Road, here I come again!
