Here are the shots!
I didn't really compose the shot this way, but I cropped it to be so. The shot would have been better without the tree.
Just one of those moments to bring up your camera and snap away!
A dramatic sky I would say. A pretty shot to the eye but somehow a dearth of meaning.
This shot seems more intriguing, with the two men approaching one another. Still, the photo doesn't say much.
Pensive. That's what this shot gave me.
I found this shot interesting, like a man starring at an extra-terrestrial object.
Some character eh?
My most "shameless", or daring shot. Just took this couple upfront, but they didn't seem to notice. It could have been a more endearing moment if I took it when the guy lights up the cigarette for his counterpart.
This area in front of Tangs has pretty dramatic lighting in the late afternoon!
Overall, I was pretty satisfied with these shots. It's about being at the moment, and you can never ever get the same shot twice, no matter how many times you walk down the same road.
weihan, renjie here. your photos are quite amazing! :D
ReplyDeletei don't find myself particularly impressed by bruce gilden's photos though - admittedly they have a lot of character & energy, which i suppose is what he is driving towards - but it lacks elegance, i think.
one of my favorite street style photographers is scott schuman, he was basically the one who inspired me to start doing portraits of people on the street. obviously it's very style-oriented, but there is definitely something to be said about the composition & sheer spirit in his photos.
also, check out streetfsn.com & jakandjil.com/blog!! heh hope you find them inspiring enough to start asking people for their photos. (:
oh hey! haha you must have found this place from howard's blog.
ReplyDeleteAs for Bruce Gilden, I'm just impressed by his nonchalance when he take his candid portraits.
ah, streetfsn.com is awesome heh! haha I think I'll still stick with candid shots for now.
Will add you on my blogroll!
